I'm Luca, Director of Engineering and Board Member at the IOTA Foundation, where I lead the R&D department building next-generation distributed ledger technology.
My career began with a Swiss IT apprenticeship, progressing through full-stack development, enterprise systems integration, and infrastructure management. This foundation gave me a deep understanding of how technology drives business outcomes, from ERP and CRM systems to custom internal tooling.
Since joining IOTA in 2018, I've advanced from Software Engineer to Director of Engineering and Board Member. I now oversee teams responsible for research, core protocol development, smart contracts, virtual machines, node infrastructure, tooling, and developer relations. My role spans technical architecture, organizational strategy, and building high-performing engineering teams.
I bring broad technical fluency across Go, Rust, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, and C#, with hands-on experience in databases, containerization, Linux infrastructure, and distributed systems design. I've worked on multiple node implementations for blockchain protocols, contributed to protocol architecture, and built developer experience tooling at scale.
My current focus lies at the intersection of distributed ledger technology and real-world application, particularly in trade digitization and supply chain infrastructure.
Based in Zurich, Switzerland. Outside of work, you'll find me in the Alps with an ultralight pack.
